About
Laurin Hunter is an independent San Francisco Bay Area based singer/songwriter interweaving elements of folk, americana, rock, pop, alternative, and world music. Laurin is an artist who joyfully defies limitations and his explosive live shows leave audience members feeling transported, rejuvenated and understood. His utilization of alternate tunings, tastefully innovative guitar work, soulful vocal delivery (spanning four octaves), and introspective lyrical storytelling combine to take listeners on a transformational journey of discovery they’ve never been on before.
After surviving a near fatal car accident while studying economics at Sonoma State University, Laurin’s perspective and life trajectory drastically changed, catapulting him to dedicate his new lease on life to his musical artistry. Shortly afterwards, Laurin attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he studied and mentored with Grammy Award winning songwriters. He has since won competitions such as the West Coast Songwriters contest and NSAI new song competition. He has toured across the US and played venues such as the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA as well as the Blue Bird Cafe ASCAP Writer Showcase in Nashville, TN. Laurin's 2023 self released album “Face Up” has accumulated over 4 million global streams, and he's racked up millions more writing for other major label artists.
Laurin’s upcoming release “The Ontario Sessions” is both a short film and EP where Laurin documents his time in Algonquin National Park while grappling with the recent loss of his father. During the film, Laurin performs covers of iconic Canadian artists such as Joni Mitchell and Neil Young while also showcasing original music he composed in the park.
Throughout the entirety of his career, Laurin has cultivated a vast, supportive international audience that continues to grow by the day. Ultimately, he hopes to captivate, heal, and inspire his listeners with heartfelt music.
